Show Me Your Palm
/
Some say we can tell a lot all with a simple palm reading.
Let’s set the scene, similar to how it was in the Universal movie The Wolfhound Wolfman from 1941.
You knew better than to take that shortcut home through the forest at night, right? Even with your guitar in its Anderson logo gig bag and strapped onto your back. You had heard the tales…the tales of wolves lurking about. Thank goodness you came upon the gypsy camp when you did. And the woman fortune teller…she was so nice, so wise, and so illuminating, saying,
“Place your hand in mine now, dear. Palm facing up. I can see many things about you. Even some deepest secrets you have tried to keep hidden, they are now apparent. Especially that thing about root beer, your father’s car, and pancakes in the glove box, but that is a tale for another time. For your sake, I will say no more about it.
“But I can clearly see that you love music. It moves your soul. Ah…you have the mark. The mark of a monster guitar…the ultimate musical mark of the Wolfhound. Do not fear it. Embrace it, and your guitar tone will know no equal evermore. You will always and forever dominate whenever and wherever the need or desire arises.
“And another of your deepest longings is answered tonight. You have had the burning question: What does Transparent Light Brown look like — especially when shown over a Mahogany body? Look no further than this ultimate Anderson Guitarworks Wolfhound. Now you will know for sure as Anderson’s color-balanced lighting shows its accurate hue, yes even in the forest at night.”
She gasped and then called out, “Fingerboard…a hound’s tooth, an umbrella.” “Wait,” she continued, “forget the part about the umbrella. Let me look closer. The figured fingerboard is Ziricote, a beautiful wood with wonderful tone crowned with glistening, super-slick, stainless steel frets — further set alight by Wolfhound’s exclusive Houndstooth inlay. Do not be afraid of the Houndstooth. It is your friend. A very good and a very impressive touch.
“Gazing at your palm, I can see two extremely musical Anderson Humbucker Pickups eavesdropping on the inherent focus and power of Wolfhound’s Mahogany body, Mahogany-backed neck, Shorty, 24 3/4-inch, scale length, and Top-Mounted Bridge configuration. All this together spells delighted satisfaction of your deepest midrange power-mad desires.
“Looking closer still, I can sense a 3-Way Big Toggle, in cooperation with two mini-toggles, presenting 8 ultra-useful sound combinations from Wolfhound’s dual pickup geography — even when the moon is full — perhaps the best time to play anyway.
“If you want to know more, I can tell you even more.”
“Yes, please.”
“The 3-Way Big Toggle is the main pickup selector switch and works as you might expect, selecting between Neck, Neck + Bridge, or Bridge. With the two mini-toggles in the down position (like you are flooring it), the humbuckers run in series (standard full-power humbucker pickup operation). But when you pull the mini-toggles back toward you, each pickup can be individually ‘Cut’ (dropped in power) to parallel function for single coil sounds that are not particularly susceptible to 60-cycle hum. But (top secret) for those that feel they prefer split function as their foray into single coil sounds, during the initial ordering process, you could opt for true splitting (with some authentic 60-cycle hum accompanying as well, of course).”
“Whoa, wow, okay then, that is great, thanks. Say, how is it that a gypsy fortune teller camping in the middle of the forest knows so much about guitars and electronics, anyway?”
“It is all in your palm, my dear…all in the palm of your hand when you hang around with Wolfhound.”
