Red Alert…Dakota Red Alert

This is not a drill, all hands to battle stations…or rather: All hands to Vintage Guitar Color Fashion Stations.

It’s the other vintage red.

Most of us have seen and heard of Fiesta Red but this is the other vintage red. Dakota Red—a superlative, alternative for red-lovers everywhere.

Originally appearing on Cadillac in 1958, it became a guitar color only two years following its debut.

This red certainly lends itself well to accentuating the vintage vibe of Anderson’s other traditional S-style guitar: The Classic.

And make no mistake about it, even with our In-Distress aged paint process, The Classic (like each and every Anderson guitar) offers an unparalleled level of soulful excellence—drawing out the best time-honored tones ever—and more. And of course, Anderson’s legendary playability—flowing like melting butter.

Editor’s Note: The Classic is Anderson Guitarworks’ original vintage S-style guitar—a centerpiece since the company began and yet is always improving (like all Andes). The Classic has extra features and greater versatility than its more tradition-based Icon Classic sibling. But both wonderful guitars are designed to dominate with vintage tones and beyond.

It is a solid break with original convention to see a humbucker pickup positioned at the bridge. Not appearing until the 1980s on “hot rod” S-style guitars, this appointment was initially enacted to effectively create the sonic experience of having two guitars in one, as you move from customary single coils to the ramped-up output of the humbucker—all on one guitar.

Also, a marvel of the early 80’s guitars is the optional bridge we have affectionately dubbed: “Baby Floyd.” Without fine tuners or a locking nut, it is the ultimate performing, floating, vintage-sized tremolo bridge, for those that want to further their tremolo abilities with a familiar-sized bridge.

But the most secret-secret option for The Classic is: this one is Short-Scale—a 24 3/4-inch scale length. Players will choose this option for ease of playability and a touch more emphasis on the midrange frequencies.

Editor’s Note: The Classic is available with a Traditional, 25 1/2-inch scale length or the Shorty 24 3/4-inch scale length. Icon Classic is 25 1/2-inch only, as it adheres to more traditional parameters.

Dakota Red, now ready and waiting to fire-up any of your Anderson vintage-colored dreams.
