Archaeological Discovery

Guitar-wise anyway…

T-Icon appearing well worn with the character of a long and exciting musical career. And there it is, buried beneath the blackness: 3 Color Burst revealed.

Yes, if you go digging under the decomposing Black finish, you can see it, 3 Color Burst peering out from underneath—along with some raw wood.  A base of 3 Color Burst completely covered over by Black until time and playing attrition have unearthed it once again.

But why? Who would do such a thing.

An archaeological dive into ancient guitar cultures of the 1950’s and 60’s reveal the practice of painting popular bursted finishes, and if for some reason they happened to “boo boo” that finish, they would merely paint over it with a solid color—often Black—until…time again revealed what was lying underneath.

This Anderson, T-Icon pays tribute to that style of painting—but on a guitar that performs at the ultimate level—without anything held back. An old and road-worn looking instrument that is the best playing and best sounding guitar you have ever laid ears or hands upon. Absolutely a delight to play in every way.

Each and every piece and aspect of the guitar is consciously selected for the best possible tone, playability and function—without anything held back to satisfy any dysfunctional tradition. Only the best remains.

When we do this style of paint job we call it: In-Distress. And this particular manifestation of super worn with two painty layers is known as a Level 3, Double Decker.

So maybe that old saying is true that you can’t have your cake and eat it too.  Or in archaeological terms: you can’t have your dig and keep it buried too. But in the guitar world, you certainly can have your extremely cool vintage guitar and excellence in uncompromised performance too—all in one Anderson instrument—T-Icon with an In-Distress finish—an archaeological masterpiece.
