Unmasking Superbird

Welcome To The 26 NAMM Fam Celebration

What are we talking about here? Unmasking a superhero of unparalleled powers and abilities? Well, yes, we kind of are…saying that.

Raven Superbird, like all in the Raven (offset style guitar) family, used to only be seen in a Classic formation—meaning brandishing its “classic” Pickguard styling here, there, and everywhere. That is why they were officially known as Raven Classic and Raven Superbird Classic.

Until…recently, that is, when the “regular” Raven (no Classic) burst onto the scene, causing a kind of guitar styling super storm, as they were found running around without a pickguard. So risqué. But who is really to say what is risqué anyway?

Be that as it may…

Let’s get down to Superbird and its speciality.

A Superbird is to the Raven family what Cobra T is to the T family, what Cobra S is to the S family, and what Arc Angel is to the Angel family.

Superbird’s distinctive characteristics that set it apart from other members of the Raven family are:

24 3/4-inch scale length:

Always has the shorter scale, not an option. This is Superbird’s standard architecture. The shorter string length means it is designed to expound with more muscular midrange focus. This also benefits with less string tension, easier reaching, and bending.

Mahogany (Okoume or Limba) body back:

Limba (aka Korina), as seen on this NAMM 26 beauty, finished in Tinted Natural, demonstrates mahogany-like sonic qualities but trades a bit of its mid-only character for some extended highs without deviating from this specific genre.

Mahogany and Okoume both exhibit mahogany-like tonal characteristics of strong and aggressive midrange. Mahogany is the traditional wood, originally from South America, while African Okoume is an even-fatter, more saturated, and mid-focused option—gorgeously impressive.

Mahogany neck back:

Again, always appearing on Superbird, not an option, this neck wood further supports the concentrated midrange theme that is the emphasis of Superbird.

With these musical traits well established, Superbird becomes a favorite bandmate for those who seek aggressive, smooth, and saturated humbucker and soapbar tones—that can still “split down” to also become a multi-dimensional, do-it-all musical partner.

Furthermore, this superpowered NAMM bird is outstandingly outfitted with a new look for the HC Series humbuckers. Gold-Face Black covers grace the faces of its HC1 and HC2+ pickups, smoothly and uniquely complemented by an outstanding mix and match of Gold & Black hardware throughout, offering an even more show-stopping visual NAMM presentation.

Chosen by Dave’s Guitar Shop in La Crosse, Wisconsin, this is a master class in brilliant electric guitar speccing — unmasking a superlative Superbird of unparalleled powers and abilities.
