Drop Top Classic; this one evoking images of the gorgeous waters at the shores of Bora Bora.

1991, following closely on the heels of the industry-changing Drop Top, the Drop Top Classic emerged to elevate everything about the “classic,” pickguard-styled, S-themed guitar.

Drop Top Classic, the first to have a wonderfully lush sounding tone wood body topped with a dramatic Maple top that swept (dropped) over the forearm contour—to create vintage comfort and gorgeous maple top magnificence, all in one revolutionary instrument. Never before seen and definitely industry changing for everyone.

Pair this innovative, paradigm shift with Anderson’s legendary high-performance excellence and the results are staggeringly good—the best playing, best sounding and beautifully exotic Classic S instrument of that era, and this era as well—still unparalleled.

The first Drop Top Classic to make its 1991 splash was finished in Bora Bora Blue—quickly becoming our most popular maple color for years following.

As earthshaking as that guitar was…

This is Anderson Guitarworks, and as such, everything just instinctively keeps improving—in every way—all the time. It is a naturally ongoing process for us. Still to this day, in every way, better than ever.

In this Guitar Tales we have a Drop Top Classic finished in Natural Bora Burst and highlighted with a Pearl White Pickguard. A super-dramatic finish reminiscent of the original guitar—but with a more natural “shallow water” center flowing outward to greater saturation of color and finally to a Bora shaded Burst treatment at the perimeter of its gorgeously sleek body.

Could anything be more fun than this? Maybe not. Dive in with us. The successful pursuit of excellence and art, always a thrilling endeavor when done consciously with integrity, caring and experience.
