Big Thundery Boom-Boom
/Why would Markus ever ask us to refer to him using such a silly name?
“When I am holding this guitar, please call me Big Thundery Boom-Boom.”
Perhaps it’s because he is just feeling so ultra musically powerful while he holds his BariTom Classic—finished with a special sharp-edge body in Seafoam Green.
After all, a BariTom, Anderson’s baritone guitar line, does produce a huge and powerful low register tone that cannot possibly ever go unnoticed. BariTom makes it very easy and very fun to be sonically super dominant.
Let’s talk with him for a moment:
“Markus, buddy, maybe select another name that’s not quite so… You know… Weird.”
Staring questioningly, there was a long moment of silence…And then:
Stretching and yawning, I open my eyes, finally coming to. At that moment, I realized I must have nodded off.
Actually, I think I may have completely made up all of that. Markus probably never really asked us to call him a special name. Although Big Thundery Boom-Boom is kind of catchy when you think about it. But perhaps I just dreamed that part of the BariTom story—but not the other part.
So please, nobody tell him I wrote this in Guitar Tales. We’ll just keep it between ourselves. Thanks.
But it does illustrate the point of how hugely powerful sounding a BariTom can be—a baritone Anderson instrument with a longer 28 5/8-inch scale length, with larger strings, tuned lower—B to B.
Talk about adding girth and depth to the track, this is the instrument to do that in a wonderful Anderson-Playing way. Absolutely huge sounding!
